In ancient Greece, it was believed that the Halcyon bird (known as the common Kingfisher today) had the powers to calm the waves in order to build her nest and lay her eggs on the sea. Say what??
Anyhow, we were intrigued by the story, but mostly by the birds beautiful colors.
First graders used acrylic paint, feathers and decorative paper to create their Halcyon bird.
