Krazy Kinders~ Snails!

Kindergartners learned some amazing facts about snails. For instance, did you know they have 80 teeth??

Then we drew our snails with crayon and decorated their shells with many patterns including letters, numbers and even their name!

We finished them off with liquid watercolor and mounted them on tag board creating a beautiful mosaic border.

Perfect for Spring!

Krazy Kinders~ Winter Trains

Prior to break, Kindergartners studied pictures of old fashioned steam engines!
We practiced seven different kinds of train cars on our white boards using all the shapes we already knew how to draw!
Later, we designed our own steam engine using our favorite cars only so each drawing was quite unique!
However, I believe their favorite part was using a toothbrush to spray the snow. Some even created a blizzard!

Krazy Kinders~ Kandinsky Circles

Kindergartners studied the paintings of the famous Russian painter Wassily Kandinsky!
{Wassily Kandinsky 1866-1944}
Kandinsky was especially fond of circles and was known to be one of the founding fathers of Abstract Art.
{"Circles Within a Circle" 1923}

Kindergartners drew, cut and glued different colored circles of their choice to their paper to make a collage.
Next, they printed many round objects such as lids and even a sink drainer to make even more circles! Last, they rolled paint onto bubble wrap and printed that too !
{"Squares with Concentric Circles" 1913}
Beautiful abstract prints inspired by Wassily Kandinsky!

Fantastic First Graders~ Gingerbread House!

Prior to break, first graders built gingerbread houses using collage materials!

I love the giant lollipops in the front yard and colorful trees:)

Krazy Kinders~ Cows & Portraits!

Kinders learned all about cows and studied the shapes that make up their bodies.
After figuring that out it was a piece of cake to draw them!
We couldn't resist making some crazy patterns inside of them!
 Liquid watercolors were used to give them that bright color..we love the liquid watercolors!
"Space Cow"
Some kindergarten classes also gave self portraits a try.

We used mirrors to study the shapes of our facial features and details in our clothing and hair.

Not bad for first time portraits!

Krazy Kinders~ Two Art Show Pieces!

A print using pom poms and sponges for heads and bodies to create some very unique friends!
This kindergartner did such a great job drawing detail. It's so hard to get them to think of extra details to draw but this one rocked it!

A drawing based on the ceramic birds and nests that Kindergartners made. This was actually a drawing made by a student who was finished early. A bird in its nest sledding down a hill! What a great imagination!

Krazy Kinders~ Shapes Make Trains!

Kindergartners took shapes they already knew how to draw and created fabulous steam engines!
Love the blended sky and tiny train cars this student drew.

We looked at dozens of pictures of various train cars and talked about what they carry.
Whoops! We forgot the wheels!
