Spectacular Second Graders~ Van Gogh Sunflowers

Second Graders met were introduced to Vincent Van Gogh's Sunflowers series
Vincent Van Gogh 1889

They were fascinated by Mr. Van Gogh's story and even more with a simple flower he spent so much time studying.
Backgrounds were painted first and time was taken to practice drawing different vase shapes.
After vases were painted they planned how many flowers they wanted to paint and started with the centers and then the petals.
Seeds and stems were painted last and when the flowers are completely dry they used a white oil pastel on the petals for highlights.
Well done Second Graders!

Fantastic First Graders~ Midnight Owls

First Graders studied all species of owls and used different types of media to create these beautiful midnight paintings!
I love how they realized that if they slapped the sponges for the moon it created lovely stars in the sky! What a happy accident, because there's no way I ever would have suggested it due to the mess. It was totally worth it though:)
They used different shades of blue pastel to created the "moon glow".

Painting the owls was a hoot, I tell ya. They are each so unique, from big glaring eyes to surprised eyes!
And I love how varied the branches are. Some filled their paper and others were happy with one solitary branch. So beautiful!

Welcome Back Eagle View Artists!

I’m excited to start a new year with you and am looking forward to seeing what you're able to create with the various projects I have planned for this year. So many new things are in store!

Right now we have the opportunity to participate again in the program ART TO REMEMBER. Parents love to collect their children’s artwork so we’ve teamed up with them again to create those long lasting memories and at the same time support the art program here at Eagle View. Art to Remember transfers children’s artwork onto wonderful keepsake items. This is a unique way for you to enjoy your child’s artwork and for the children to see you appreciate their accomplishments. You will receive your order in time for the winter holidays, so you will be able to order additional keepsakes as gifts for other family members.
About the end of September, your child will bring home a packet that will contain his/her artwork and a brochure that shows you all the items you can purchase which will display your child’s artwork. You will also receive instructions on how to purchase the products. If you would like to see all the different products Art To Remember offers, please visit their website at www.arttoremember.com
I hope you enjoy your child’s masterpiece! If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. I’m looking forward to a great year and to helping your child learn where their imagination can take them. Art is a great way to showcase every child’s ability to go beyond their capabilities and to use that in their everyday learning and life.
