Krazy Kinders~ Cows

Due to the rotating schedule, not all kindergarten classes will be working on the same project at the same time.

Kinders did a cow study and learned many interesting things...just ask'em.

They didn't realize they could draw a cow until they recognized shapes in the body that they already knew how to draw, but I love how some put their own "spin" on it!

Feisty Fifth Graders~ Winter Birtch Trees

So did you know that birch tree bark can be soaked and used to make a cast? Or that birch ply is used for surfboards and model airplanes because it's so light? Maybe you didn't know that in Germany young men decorate birch trees in the front yards of their secret crush to show their feelings. Well, now ya do and so does fifth grade, along with a lot of other interesting facts about birch trees. Actually we set out to create a collage using warm and cool color tissue and strips of paper that we later painted meticulous details and shadows onto.

Turned out gorgeous!

Thrilling Third Graders~ Cardinal Painting

Third graders took a close look at the Cardinal and even though a few of them would have rather drawn Larry Fitzgerald of the Arizona Cardinals I was able to get them pumped about the real thing

Fantastic First Graders~ Close Up Snowman

First graders also talked about near and far and in the end painted a snowman up close (Thanks Patty for that interesting perspective!) They loved this idea of a snowman "in your face"

I love how Sammi ended up with a "falling" snowman...

...and how Payton's appears to be singing opera!

Fabulous Fourth Grade~ Mardi Gras Masks

Fourth graders have recently completed a mask just in time for Mardi Gras! We talked about how a mask is considered a craft due to the fact that it is one- functional, two- made by hand and three- decorative...and Boy, are these decorative!

Yet another awesome artist. Check this guy out!

Guido Daniele (born 1950) is an artist who lives and works in Milan, Italy!
He has worked as a hyper-realistic illustrator for advertising companies utilizing airbrush and testing out various painting techniques.

Check out his "handy" work below!

We like to talk about careers in art class, and I've been telling my students that they can use their passion for creating art to make some major moola. Apparently At&t below thinks so too!

Krazy Kinders~ Snowman Collage

The kinders have been busy using collage techniques to create a snowman.

They love to stick anything onto paper and providing a plethora of items to glue made a great lesson on glue bottle control!Amelia
